Keyboard shortcuts and commands
Use chat shortcuts without taking over native CAD commands.
Focus matters
These shortcuts belong to the chat workspace. Native CAD tools and question controls keep their own keyboard behavior. Put focus in the composer for message commands; do not expect a chat shortcut to override every editor or dialog.
| Task | Shortcut / command |
|---|---|
| Send message | Enter in composer |
| Insert newline | Shift+Enter |
| Switch Plan / Agent | Shift+Tab in composer |
| New chat tab | Ctrl+T |
| Close active chat tab | Ctrl+W |
| Reopen closed chat | Ctrl+Shift+T |
| Next / previous chat | Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab |
| Command menu | Ctrl+K or Ctrl+Shift+P |
| Choose model | Ctrl+Shift+M or /model |
| Thinking effort | Ctrl+Alt+T or /thinking |
| Permissions | Ctrl+Alt+P or /permissions |
| Chat history | Ctrl+Shift+H |
| Cancel message editing | Escape |
Choose a model and effort
Open /model, choose from the discovered model list, then select a supported thinking effort. The chooser should not silently send the draft or substitute an unavailable model. See models and thinking.
Questions and multiple controls
Inside a question, Tab and Shift+Tab move focus through answer controls. Do not assume Shift+Tab changes Plan/Agent while focus is in a question. Read the visible submission state before confirming.
When a shortcut does not work
Check which widget has focus, whether a dialog is active and whether you are editing a message. Prefer the corresponding visible control. Report the key combination, focused surface, operating system and expected action. Do not globally remap CAD shortcuts to work around a chat defect.
